I feel like I’m coming down with a cold, which is very displeasing consideringc last week I had a sore throat and sniffles but managed to keep it from turning into anything more through constant vigilance and copious fluids. Now I’m just kind of resigned to the fact that somewhere someone left behind some germs that I managed to pick up, despite my thorough and regular hand washing. *Shakes fist at sky*
The “new” living room is coming along nicely. I’m waiting to order the bench and ottoman until our next payday because I set a budget for it all and I’m trying to be a responsible adult rather than “ooh put it on the credit card” or “eh, who cares, lets just buy it all now for instant gratification” and so I’m waiting. In the interim I took care of the end table that we realized we really needed, and I think it turned out nicely for a table that I ordered from Target and put together myself:
I’m now on the hunt for a lamp for said table (since our favorite reading chair is right next to it and old people everyone benefits from extra reading light) and I’m trying to decide if I should incorporate the “main” color I’m using, the deep peacock teal (which this lamp is, in person):
Or if I should go more neutral with something like this:
I’m leaning towards neutral…too much of the main color might be overload, you know? (Above lamps are from Target & World Market)
Outside of the home decorating we have been busying eyeing the weather suspiciously (is it just going to stay mostly sunny and near 50 or….?) and filling our calendars with fun things. Right about now is when Chicagoans are stir crazy, the slightest hint that winter might be over sends us out in droves and parties are planned and events are booked and everyone begins to emerge from their sloth-like winter presence to mingle and have cocktails and enjoy human company.
I watched the Academy Awards, like millions of other people and I’m not going to give any sort of dress commnentary or discuss who won and who didn’t (although I did see Iron Lady and thought Meryl Streep was nothing short of brilliant) but I will say this: I saw parts of Jennifer Lopez I can never unsee. WHY? WHY DID THIS HAPPEN?
I have recently discovered (via my BirchBox) what a Beauty Blender is:
And I can’t say enough good things about it, other than I’m sad I went so long without one, and if you use primer or foundation or concealer or anything that is liquid or cream (such as blush or illuminating cream) you should run out, post haste, and snag yourself a pack. Amazing little tool.
And there you have it folks. Happy Tuesday! May all your dreams come true. Or…..something.

I’ve seen that teal lamp and it is so pretty!
Is the beauty blender really that great? I have a hard time getting past the price.
I really do like the beauty blender. It just makes everything so nice and even/smooth and I’ve noticed my makeup stays on better with it. I just think it really does blend everything that much better! I am not buying their marketed wash for it though, I’ll use my own face wash, thank you very much!
My thought about a lamp (both are pretty)…..be careful about the size of the base. If you ever decide to use the table (nice) as a book holder between times of reading, you may find a larger base lamp a problem.
I agree, luckily the table is pretty big so I should be ok as long as I don’t pick a HUGE lamp!
keep it neutral, (says the interior designer)…
and beauty blender…I shall look into.
I think I agree – neutral lamp. And yes, get yourself a Beauty Blender!
