Checking In

February 1! The month of Valentines Day – a day that I will argue (until I’m blue in the face) is for elementary school children with construction paper shoe box “mailboxes” and soggy hearts made from sugar, not a day for women to insist upon lavish gifts & cruddy boxed chocolates or cry at the lack of a certain someone in their life – and dreary weather and the one year anniversary of B & I’s engagement. Lots to do, plenty to see! Seeing as how it is the first, I figured I’d give those pesky New Year’s resolutions a quick progress report if you will:

  • Overall Health- so far, so good! I’ve been menu planning and buying things in their most natural state possible to help increase nutritional value. I bought a bike that is ready to go as soon as it thaws out, and I’ve been going on multiple walks a day with our new fur baby, Rhett Butler. I’ve even traded out my chemical filled coffee creamer (oh how I miss thee!) and I’ve switched to organic low fat vanilla soy milk. Not nearly as tasty, but it contains actual food product rather than things I can’t pronounce.

  • My Evening Attitude- a work in progress, but so far it seems to be making a difference!

  • Signed Copies- definitely an area to work on. Library card is coming soon and I’ve been perusing macBooks with dreams of my tax return check going to good use. We shall see.

  • Save the Planet- one step forward, one step back. I’ve been good about using my reusable canvas grocery bags & I’ve been trying to cut down on my paper towel use. Of course I’m now using small plastic bags to clean up after Rhett Butler in the neighborhood (no one appreciates dog owners that leave messes behind in the grass…) so that probably cancels out some of the good. I’ve switched to Charlie’s Soap Powder to do my laundry and give it to big thumbs up- smells clean, works well and hasn’t caused anyone’s sensitive skin to act up all while being as natural as any laundry soap can be.

  • Travel- itinieraries continue to be made on our trip to Europe, as well as my trip to NYC in August.

  • Use The Good China- check! I’ve even started using our lovely hotel linen table napkins for our nightly dinner in an effort to remind us to slow down & savor the good in life.

How about you- how are your resolutions going??

I like Silk’s soy creamer. They have a french vanilla flavor as well. It’s natural and very creamy and yummy.

Going to have to try that soap powder. I’m currently using the new Green Works line by Clorox and it works well, but I like supporting smaller brands where I can.

Thanks for updating us, it’s great to hear how everything is going! You know, we have yet to find any solution other than plastic for the Tilly/Rhett issue, unfortunately that works best.

BTW, saw your Tweet about King cake — make two! (Heh-heh-heh.)

Loved your post about dong the marketing the other night. :)

Great minds Daisy, great minds. I did the same kind of post today! LOL Some things I’ve been doing very well on, some things not so well on, and other things so-so… I think you are doing great with yours! :)
