Man versus Woman
Scene: Kitchen, various chit-chat while cleaning up after dinner.
Daisy: I’m excited- I hope our Christmas stockings come soon!
The Hubs: I know! If they don’t come this week whatever will we put our Halloween candy in?
High Definition Distraction
After coming back from the whirlwind that was the wedding & honeymoon, The Hubs & I had quite the stack of mail. In it was our cable bill, and upon opening it I was distressed to see the charge was much more than the usual monthly fee. After some investigation (and discovery that oh, hey, the cable company is run by some crooked thieves!) I discovered some bait & switch tactics and other “expired rebate” nonsense that try as I might, I couldn’t argue my way out of.
I turned to B and told him, sadly, that our super-smoking-good-deal-package was no longer a super smoking good deal and thus, no longer in our budget. I delivered the news that we’d be cutting our HBO and various movie channels. This isn’t something that bothers me in the least- I didn’t grow up with these channels and I don’t sit down often to watch movies on televions, thus, no big deal.
B on the other hand greatly enjoys movie channels. He likes to spend his evening flipping between sports & whatever movie HBO is showing – it is his “unwinding” ritual. While he agreed it was time to chop the “premium” channels (that were supposedly included for 12 months in our super-smoking-good-deal but I digress….) I could tell he was sad about this.
So I did some research and finagling and finally changed our entire package entirely to a different tier, and then added on a sports package ($10 a month for you folks out there who are concerned about mah big money spendin’ ways) so we are still paying less than we were a month with our super smoking good deal (thus within our alloted “entertainment” budget for the month) AND I’ve given B the gift that springs eternal- the Fox Sports Detroit channel, in HD.
Heaven help me next Tigers season.
(In the interim, GO WINGS!)
